Forthcoming fashion exhibition – Eye See Through: Transparency in Dress

Produced by MA Fashion Curation students from London College of Fashion, Eye See Through: Transparency in Dress seeks to challenge time-honoured paradigms relating to the curation of dress within the twenty-first century. Running from April 23rd at Deptford’s cult arts venue, The Old Police Station, the exhibition takes a timely and unprecedented look at the relative complexities of the transparency sensation...

Transparency in its purest form suggests an unadulterated and optically porous surface, a surface that lends itself to the penetrative gaze of Man. Transparency makes visible what is often hidden; truth supplants deceit.

Within the exhibition, historical and contemporary dress is intertwined with conceptual renderings upon the transparency theme. Featuring fashion designers such as Christopher Raeburn, John Rocha and Dai Rees, the eye becomes a centralising element of the exhibition as the visitor’s gaze is treated to a sequence of provocative interventions where dress mixes with photography, installation and film.

Eye See Through: Transparency in Dress will run from April 23 - April 30 2010
The Old Police Station, 114 Amersham Vale, Deptford, London SE14 6LG
